Our first ever AGM as Stirling Storm is this Wednesday 29th April after training.
We’ve decided to kick it off with a social by ordering pizza as we will all have just played an evening of Summer CTS matches.
AGM is OPEN TO ALL particularly new players, we want to see as many members there as possible (even if you’ve only just come down to the club). We have Ros, our Chairperson-elect, all ready to make sure it doesn’t take too long!
Location: Parker Suite, Stirling County Rugby Club
7.45pm finish games and collect pizza
8pm social and pizza
8.30pm AGM kick off
This year we have a two step process for membership; Stirling Storm Club and Scottish Touch Association (STA are our national governing body).
Stirling Storm Club membership
We keep fees as low as possible in order to ensure the club is low cost and accessible to all players. We’ve restructured club fees this season reducing it by £10 to help accommodate the new STA membership fee. The club membership only covers our pitch hire and so it really helps us manage the club cash flow if those players that can do pay upfront.
Option 1 – Lump Sum Payment
Designed for our longer term members and regular players, you can either pay a lump sum or set up a monthly standing order. Valid from April to September inclusive (our Touch season) it’s a £60 one off payment or £10 per month for 6 months. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for bank details.
Option 2 – Pay as you go
Designed for newcomers who can’t commit to whole season, players coming back from injury, or those who join towards end of season. This option is £3 cash per session, payable on the night at training.
Scottish Touch Association membership
New for 2015, you will get insurance cover, including Personal Accident cover, when you become a member of STA. This covers you as a player for all affiliated Touch participation, at club, region and national level – including training and competitions. As an affiliated club we require all our members to become members of STA which is essential for your safe participation in training and tournaments. It’s £20 for April – December 2015.
How to become member:
- Go to www.scottishtouch.org.uk/membership/
- Set up individual profile
- Accept T&Cs for your STA membership
- Pay £20 online
- Go to Club memberships and click on “Stirling Storm” and then “new member”
- Accept T&Cs for your club membership with Stirling Storm
Full detail of the insurance policy benefits are available on the membership link above.
Note that all membership and payment details, with STA or Stirling Storm, are totally secure under Data Protection Rules we adhere too.
If anyone has any questions or concerns about any of this then please speak with Gilly or Euan at training, or email us at email@example.com.
Everyone at Stirling Storm is really excited about the upcoming Touch World Cup. It takes place in Coffs Harbour, Australia from 29th April to 5th May and Scotland are sending four squads and a number of referees. Scotland are participating in the Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Mixed Open and Women’s 27’s divisions.
We’re quite a small club but have always been proud of the relatively high number of members who have gone on to represent our country. Representing Scotland in the birth place of Touch is a huge honour but the work these individuals have put in makes this so well deserved.
For the 2015 World Cup we have the following club members soon departing for Australia:
- Men’s Open – Callum Murray, Finlay Sim
- Women’s Open – Rebecca Clingan, Kate Walker
- Mixed Open – Jenn Wright
- Women’s 27’s – Tracy Austin
- Referee – Phil Leeks
Touch in Scotland is entirely self funded and the expense of travelling and playing in Australia is huge. We believe every little bit helps and are delighted to be in position to offer each Scotland squad a small contribution towards their expenses. A donation has also been made personally to Phil in recognition of the huge contribution he’s made to our club as a referee. Supporting our players and referees is important as we know that the experience they gain from this opportunity can really benefit the club in the future.
Good luck to our club members and all their Scotland team mates taking part, we’ll be checking results and cheering you on from Stirling. We’re sure you’ll grab this opportunity, have an amazing time and do yourselves proud.

A new name and new brand is exciting right? Well the absolute best thing about a new name is NEW KIT!!!
We’ve teamed up with Belief to produce some awesome looking kit and are hoping for a huge order from club members.
Belief have kindly provided us a range of samples so you can try on and make sure you get the best size. Here are the times you can try on kit and place your order:
- Wednesday 1st April (Training at Uni)
- Thursday 2nd April (Social at Brewhouse)
- Monday 6th April (Training at rugby club)
- Wednesday 8th April (Training at Uni)
So that we have all our kit for our tournament, the order must be placed on Thursday 9th April. If you can’t place an order in person then please email email@example.com.
Sheila is guardian of the order form but Gilly, Euan, Ros, Paul and Jenn have been involved in the creation of the kit and tried on sizes, so can help if you have any questions.
Please be as proactive as possible, a lot of work has gone into getting us to this stage and we want everyone in the club to have chance to wear this great new kit.
Stirling Storm are hosting an evening of celebration to kick start the new season. This is open to all Touch players, friends and family in the region.
We’ll wish best go luck to those going to World Cup, give out awards and trophy for Central Touch Series, look back over the 14 year history of the club and chat about plans for the future.
Please join us at the Allanwater Brewhouse on 2nd April, from 7pm
